This month our principal has asked us to talk about respect. We read the book The Recess Queen by Alexis O'Neill and discussed how she could be more respectful to her classmates. Although the book does have some funny parts, we took time to really talk about how it would feel to be treated the way The Recess Queen treated her friends. Blog-E assignment:
1. Ask your child to retell the story to you. If you happen to have a copy of the book, read it again with your child. If not, perfect, let your child be the story teller.
2. Talk with your child about the importance of respecting your friends and what respect means in your family.
3. Post a comment about what respect means to your child.
Ms. Howard's idea of respect: Respect means saying please and thank you. It also means listening with all of my senses while others are talking.
I can't wait to read your responses! See you tomorrow,
Ms. Howard
